ITD Egypt is a family-run Egyptian business with an international outlook. Since 1988, the company has supported international organisations that need local knowledge, relationships and execution capability in Egypt. Its institutional roots reach back to 1977 through International Legal Consultants Egypt, founded by Dr. Laila Takla and Saba Pasha Habachy.
That heritage matters because ITD’s role has always sat at the point where international expertise meets Egyptian market reality. Over time, the sectors and service lines have changed, but the company’s purpose has remained centred on helping international organisations navigate, establish and grow locally.

Dr. Laila Takla
Founder
Dr. Laila Takla is a distinguished Coptic Egyptian politician, author, and advocate for Muslim-Christian relations. She has made significant contributions to law, politics, and interfaith dialogue throughout her career.
Founding ITD & ILC Egypt
In 1977, together with Saba Pasha Habachy, Dr. Takla founded International Legal Consultants Egypt. This organization has played a pivotal role in providing legal services and consulting, marking an important milestone in her professional journey. In 1988, International Trade and Development was established as a sister company to International Legal Consultants, further enhancing their contributions to legal and trade expertise in Egypt.
Political achievements
Dr. Takla has the distinction of being the first female president of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Egyptian People's Assembly. Her pioneering role extended to the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), where she became the first woman to chair a session.
International, academic and professional work
Her public and professional career has combined law, parliament, international cooperation and academia. Historical biographies identify her as a professor of Law and Management, a legal consultant, and a participant in national and international bodies concerned with culture, human rights, education and public affairs. She also served in parliamentary foreign-relations roles and was recognised for breaking barriers for women in international parliamentary leadership.
Dialogue across communities
A consistent theme across Dr. Takla’s work has been dialogue between communities. Her writing on Christian-Islamic heritage argues for mutual understanding, compassion and the rejection of fanaticism and exclusion. That emphasis on respect across cultures continues to inform ITD’s stated values around integrity, inclusivity and cultural understanding.
